PTSD: Post Tramatic Stress Disorder in Veteran's

PTSD was not known for quite sometime...they just named these mentally distraught soliders as "crazy" or even "cowards" not knowing the real sevarity of their illness. There are three things that can happen all together or just one thing that PTSD are comprised of, relieveing, avoiding and, increased arousal. With relieveing that is when a person who has been through something tramatic is trying to go through the happenigs so they will have flashbacks, hallucinations, or even nightmares about the event. They could also feel stressed when something happens that reminds them of the horrific event. Next avoiding this is when a person with avoid places, activities, or even thoughts that remind them of the event. Because of this they will become detatched form the world around them. Another problem with PTSD or post tramatic stress disorder, is increased arousal meaning excessive emotions. These can be things such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, outbursts of anger, difficulty concentrating, and being easily startled. This can also cause physical problems such as high blood pressure/rate, muscle tension, and even nausea. People who have PTSD also deal with it differently aome are even able to calm themselves down. Anyone can have PTSD and it has been brought into about 5.2 million people annually, furthermore, they have estimated that around 7.8 million people will experience it in their lifetime. There are also many different ways PTSD can be treated from medication like antidepressants to psychotherapy to help the patient learn how to control themselves. However no matter what you do to treat PTSD it will be a long process that will be on going and may never fully be resolved. THe best thing to do for people who have PTSD it to take control of it before it can get worse and be more self harming. I believe that the military will say that they do because they don't want American people to think that there are unstable people fighing in our war however it is also the sokiders. Just like any team you are on, although you want to push yourself for what you believe in, sometimes you have to know when it isn't healthy and you have to stop, as much as it might hurt your pride just knowing you could still be the same to your family is a much better trade off.
